Angel Reese delivered one of her best performances of the season on Sunday, but it wasn’t without controversy. In the Chicago Sky’s 78–66 win over the Connecticut Sun, the star forward was issued a technical foul after a heated exchange with Olivia Nelson-Ododa in the third quarter.
Both Reese and Tina Charles of the Sun were assessed technical fouls, which offset each other. No free throws were awarded, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences.
Angel Reese’s Technical Could Lead to a Fine
Under WNBA rules, players are fined for each technical foul they receive throughout the season. According to FOX Sports, Reese entered Sunday’s game with just one technical. If the league doesn’t rescind this new foul, it would be her second, carrying a $200 fine.
Here’s how the fines stack up:
- 1–3 technicals = $200 each
- 4–6 technicals = $400 each
- 7+ = $800 each + automatic suspension
Despite the incident, Reese helped lead the Sky to a much-needed win, snapping a three-game losing streak. She also recorded her first career triple-double, earning her the nickname “Triple-Double Barbie.” The WNBA star continues to be one of the league’s most exciting young talents, even as her fiery competitiveness occasionally draws attention from officials.
Unless the WNBA overturns the technical, Reese is expected to be fined, but her impact on the court remains undeniable.
