MLB Star Condemns ICE Raids and Calls for Latino Unity

Adrián González, a former MLB standout known for his power at the plate and leadership on the field, is now speaking up for his community off the diamond. In a heartfelt message posted to Instagram, González condemned recent ICE raids across the United States, describing them as both “unconstitutional” and “illegal.”

“I’m Mexican at heart,” González declared, pointing to his roots in Sonora and upbringing in Tijuana. His message came with a personal layer, his wife, Betzabe, also comes from an immigrant background. That connection made the issue hit home even harder for the retired slugger.

González, who proudly represented Mexico throughout his 15-year MLB career, made it clear he’s no longer staying silent.

“What’s happening is not just wrong—it’s unconstitutional,” he said. “The Latino community must stay united and use peaceful protest to make our voices heard.”

A Powerful Voice Beyond MLB

Though Adrián González typically keeps his activism behind the scenes, this time he chose to go public. He revealed that he’s working with organizations fighting back against these immigration crackdowns, and he encouraged others to speak up and stay strong.

With his reputation as one of MLB’s most respected Latino figures, González’s words carry weight. He’s not just defending his heritage, he’s defending families that face real fear and separation.

His message wasn’t just about frustration. It was also about hope. He believes that through unity, peaceful resistance, and political action, the Latino community can bring about real change. “Let’s be clear,” he added, “we’re not powerless.”

In a time when many are afraid to speak out, Adrián González has chosen to lead. And in doing so, he’s become more than an athlete, but also an advocate.
