Caitlin Clark Snubs Chicago Sky Fan in Hilarious Autograph Moment

Caitlin Clark didn’t suit up for the Indiana Fever’s dominant 79–52 win over the Chicago Sky on June 7. But she still managed to make headlines with a lighthearted autograph moment.

Although sidelined due to injury, the WNBA rookie star was seen pregame at Wintrust Arena signing autographs for dozens of fans. Many of whom showed up just to see her, despite her absence from the lineup.

“Yeah, Not Happening” to a Sky Shirt

In a now-viral clip, Clark made her way down the autograph line, smiling and signing jerseys. But when she reached one fan wearing a Chicago Sky t-shirt, she gave a playful shake of the head and skipped signing it. The fan burst out laughing, clearly understanding the snub was all in good fun. Clark then resumed signing merchandise for Fever fans, including those wearing her “Fever 22” jersey.

The brief interaction instantly sparked conversation online, due to the tongue-in-cheek competitiveness that Clark is known for.

Caitlin Clark Loves a Good Rivalry

Speaking to media earlier, Clark admitted she thrives off rivalries:

“I grew up loving rivalries. I grew up in Iowa. Iowa-Iowa State—that’s like a pro matchup in the state of Iowa,” she said. “I think for the fans, it’s great. They love it. I mean, Chicago is the closest team to us.”

That competitive fire has been part of the narrative between Clark and Sky forward Angel Reese, as the media has played up their on-court battles since both entered the WNBA in 2024.

Still a Fan Favorite, Even on the Sidelines

Despite the snub, Clark spent over three minutes signing autographs and taking selfies with fans. Showing appreciation for the crowd of nearly 20,000 attendees in Chicago. Her presence alone drew massive attention, reinforcing her status as one of the most popular players in the league.

As for her injury, Clark confirmed she’s taking a day-by-day approach, in consultation with the Fever’s medical team.

“I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress and I feel good,” she said. “I’m not going to rush coming back. It’s just not worth it.”

The Fever are scheduled to play the Atlanta Dream on June 10 and the New York Liberty on ABC on June 14, with Clark’s status still up in the air.
