Ravens Lock In Derrick Henry With Historic Two-Year Extension

Baltimore is putting its money where its run game is. The Ravens just locked in star running back Derrick Henry with a two-year, $30 million extension that includes a massive $25 million guaranteed. It’s the richest deal ever handed to a running back over the age of 30.

At 31, Henry is defying expectations and shattering age-related myths. His performance last season wasn’t just strong, it was elite. After signing a two-year, $16 million deal in 2024, the former Tennessee Titan delivered a monster year. He racked up 1,921 rushing yards, the second most in the league, and tied for the lead with 16 rushing touchdowns. His 5.9 yards per carry also marked a career high.

Derrick Henry’s Expectations

The power duo of Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson gave Baltimore’s offense a whole new identity. Opposing defenses struggled to contain them all season. Henry didn’t slow down in the postseason either. He ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns in a Wild Card win over Pittsburgh. Then, he added another touchdown in a hard-fought Divisional Round loss to Buffalo.

But Henry brings more than just stats. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta praised the veteran’s leadership and presence.

“Derrick is just a phenomenal worker,” said DeCosta. “He’s freakishly talented. The way he takes care of his body, his mentality, his leadership, it all matters. He was the right addition last year, and we expect that to continue.”

Henry also took to social media to thank Ravens fans and teammates, making it clear he’s fully committed. Earlier this year, he said he wanted to “retire a Raven”, a goal that now looks realistic.

Baltimore’s Super Bowl Ambitions

he Ravens finished 12–5 last season, falling short of their Super Bowl goal. With Henry now under contract through 2027, it’s clear the team is betting big on a win-now approach.

They’re all in on the ground-and-pound style, powered by one of the league’s most dominant backs. With a better push this season, the Ravens would be able to go a step further towards their Super Bowl goal.

Age might scare off some teams, but in Baltimore’s eyes, Derrick Henry still has plenty left in the tank, and they’re paying top dollar to prove it.
