‘Let Me Get That’: Patrick Mahomes Reacts After Tom Brady Buys His Rookie Card

In a fun crossover between sports memorabilia and MVP-level respect, Tom Brady recently purchased a rare Patrick Mahomes rookie card for $7,500. The moment was caught in a video posted by Complex, where the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback went shopping for sports cards.

While browsing, Brady came across an autographed 2017 Donruss Optic Mahomes rookie card with an 8.5 grade. Without hesitation, he added it to his haul.

Shortly after the clip hit social media, Patrick Mahomes joined the conversation in the comments section with a cheeky response.

“Let me get that! @tombrady”

The post quickly went viral, with fans highlighting the friendly rivalry that continues to grow between the two quarterbacks.

Tom Brady Shows Respect for Mahomes’ Rise

During the card shopping video, Brady also took a moment to reflect on Mahomes’ career and how impressive his accomplishments have been so far.

“If he does break the records, and last year they had a chance to go for a threepeat, I would have been so happy to be there to watch it,” Brady said.
“We should talk about how remarkable these things are, because that’s what’s inspiring about it.”

Patrick Mahomes has been rewriting the record books ever since he became a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs. In just seven seasons, he has already won three Super Bowl titles, which matches Brady’s total through the same timeframe.

Here are a few more comparisons:

  • Mahomes has been selected to six Pro Bowls, double Brady’s total in his first seven years.
  • He has won two league MVP awards. Brady had none in his first seven seasons.
  • Mahomes also holds a win percentage of .826, the highest by any quarterback since 1950.

If Mahomes maintains this pace, projections show he could potentially reach Brady’s 230 career wins by the year 2034.

Rookie Card: Friendly Banter or Generational Rivalry?

While Mahomes’ “let me get that” comment was clearly in jest, the moment carries deeper meaning. Tom Brady purchasing the card is a gesture of admiration that underscores the changing of the guard in the NFL.

Whether it is friendly banter or subtle competition, the mutual respect between the two stars is hard to miss. And if Mahomes eventually gets that card back, it may come after matching or even surpassing Brady’s legendary resume.

Wouldn’t that be worth the trade? I think we will love to see it.
