The sun does pass through 13 constellations rather than 12, but modern-day western astrologers keep the number at 12 to correlate to the 12 months of the year. Western astrology is not an exact science. Therefore, astrologers are not obligated to add Ophiuchus into the rotation.
Celestial Bodies Don’t Influence Life On Earth
The truth is, they do… sorta. As I stated above, Astrology is not an exact science. Astrology is for self-reflection and shadow work rather than a means of fortune-telling, because the stars and planets cannot tell our futures. But they can influence us in certain ways. The sun helps to sustain life on earth, and the moon controls the ocean’s tides. The strong gravitational pulls of Venus and Jupiter cause our orbit to “wobble” making our seasons and weather patterns more intense.
Everyone Acknowledges the Existence of Cusp Signs
The truth is that there is a disagreement amongst astrologers about cusp signs. Astrologers who do not acknowledge the existence of cusp signs argue that the reason that some people born on the cusp may feel like the neighbor sign is because they have that sign somewhere in their birth charts. Astrologers who do acknowledge their existence do so because they don’t want to negate someone’s experience. If someone born on April 21st feels like they have both Taurus and Gemini traits, who are we to disagree?

Your Sun Sign Is Your Only “Sign”
The truth is that there are so many signs. So many people only identify themselves by their sun signs and they completely forget that they have other placements in their birth charts. Their sun signs represent their energy and vitality, but their moon signs represent their emotions and inner self.
