How lucky are we to exist at the same time as the incomparable Tim Curry? Let’s give the actor the flowers he deserves by discussing some of his most iconic roles!
10. Hexxus
First on the list is the noxious villain from Ferngully: The Last Rainforest. Tim Curry’s crooning voice singing “Toxic Love” almost made us root for the destructive force made of smoke and ooze. His portrayal of the embodiment of pollution really reinforced the reality of what happens when we don’t care for our environment.
9. Dr. Poole
You may not know what movie this character is from. Oscar is a brilliant farce about a mob boss trying to leave his life of crime and become a respectable businessman. Tim Curry plays Dr. Poole, a dialect coach who is constantly correcting everyone’s grammar. He delivers some of the most clever lines in the film.
8. Ben Ravencroft
We all remember Scooby Doo! And the Witch’s Ghost because of the iconic cartoon rock band The Hex Girls. But those musical eco goths weren’t the only thing that made that movie great. Tim Curry voiced one of the film’s main villains, Ben Ravencroft, a warlock who let his hubris get the best of him.
7. Nigel Thornberry
All the 90’s kids are happy that the patriarch of the Thornberry family made it into the list. This is probably one of Tim Curry’s most wholesome roles. Though Nigel Thornberry could be a bit oblivious, his love for animals and his family were always quite apparent.
6. Darkness
Tim Curry as the demonic Darkness in the 80’s fantasy classic Legend is one of his scariest roles to date. It’s almost as scary as his portrayal of Pennywise in It. Because of Darkness we will never look at black dresses the same way ever again.
5. The Concierge
Tim Curry’s role as the Concierge in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is proof that he doesn’t need to have a leading role or be the main antagonist to shine. The Concierge is a supporting role but he is fantastic in it. His large grin superimposed over the Grinch’s evil smile is an iconic image that fans of the movie will never forget.
4. Wadsworth
No one else on earth could have played Wadsworth, the manic butler from Clue, as well as Tim Curry. He’s great throughout the entire film, but his genius really gets a chance to shine in the last 20 minutes when he is hilariously recapping the events of the evening. The only person who could have possibly outshined him in this film was the late, great Madeline Kahn delivering her iconic “Flames!” speech.
3. Pennywise
Bill Skarsgård was great in the role of Pennywise. But let’s be real. Tim Curry will always be the best actor to portray the evil clown who stalks children and hides away in storm drains. Not only was he terrifying as the supernatural embodiment of dread, he was also kind of funny when he was clowning around in the library scene.

2. Long John Silver
Tim Curry is an amazing actor, but he could’ve been a wonderful professional pirate! Long John Silver from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island is one of literature’s most fun and complex characters. And Tim Curry brings so much heart and fun energy to this dualistic character in Muppet Treasure Island. He just feels so at home with a cast of muppets!

1. Dr. Frank N. Furter
I’m sure all of you were waiting with antici… pation for this character to show up on the list. Of course Tim Curry’s most iconic portrayal of the larger-than-life hedonistic mad scientist from The Rocky Horror Picture Show would be at the top of the list.
